Jaguars show they’re every bit the AFC power as Patriots, Steelers – Jacksonville Jaguars Blog

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — As painful as the day ended up being for the Jacksonville Jaguars, a couple of things became abundantly clear Sunday afternoon. The Jaguars belonged in the AFC Championship Game and they’re not going away. They proved they’re going to be every bit the Super Bowl contender in the AFC over the next several years that the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers have been for the past 20. Blake Bortles did not turn the ball over in the postseason and silenced his many critics by reaching the…

Minnesota Vikings or Philadelphia Eagles: Who has the better defense? – NFL Nation

PHILADELPHIA — The best defense in the NFL comes to Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday night for the NFC Championship Game. Or at least that is what they’re saying about the Minnesota Vikings. The overall statistics indicate no defense was as good as the Vikings’ this season. Minnesota finished the regular season allowing the fewest yards (275.9) and points (15.8) per game. The Eagles weren’t far behind. They were fourth in yards (306.5) and fourth in points (18.4). They know what they’re chasing this week. “As a defensive player, when…

Adam Thielen, Andrew Sendejo expected to play for Minnesota Vikings

Wide receiver Adam Thielen and safety Andrew Sendejo are expected to play for the Minnesota Vikings in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game in Philadelphia, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Thielen has been listed as questionable due to a lower back injury. He was a limited participant at practice Thursday after being held out the day before. Sendejo, who suffered a concussion in last week’s divisional-round victory over New Orleans, still needs to clear final concussion protocol in order to play. Vikings coach Mike Zimmer has said he’s optimistic Sendejo will play…

Revival of Doug Marrone of Jacksonville Jaguars

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In a break from the grind of the playoffs last week, Doug Marrone took a seat in the stands to watch his son, Mack, play a high school basketball game. Because it’s Jacksonville, and because Marrone is fairly private, he can normally be low-key at these events. Not on this Friday night. The gym was awash in Jaguars gear, and the crowd spotted Marrone and cheered for him. Some even got out of their seats, walked up and shook his hand. It made him happy, albeit a…

Minnesota Vikings apply for two trademarks after win over New Orleans Saints

If Stefon Diggs‘ remarkable touchdown in last weekend’s game becomes part of all-time NFL lore, the Minnesota Vikings want to own it. Or at least the name. On Monday, the day after the remarkable 61-yard play from that resulted in a five-point victory over the New Orleans Saints and a trip to the NFC Championship Game, the team filed for three trademarks to “Minneapolis Miracle” and one to “Minnesota Miracle.” The filings showed up Friday in the electronic records published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
